The Rise of Super Apps: How They’re Reshaping the Financial World

The world has shifted toward a digital-first, technology-driven lifestyle. Where people once relied solely on physical bank branches for their financial needs, mobile technology now dominates. At the center of this shift are Fintech Super Apps, which are redefining how people manage money and posing a serious challenge to traditional banks.

    What Are Fintech Super Apps?

A Fintech Super App is an all-in-one digital platform that integrates a wide range of financial services under one roof. Instead of using multiple apps, websites, or banks, users can access everything in a single app—whether it’s:

    • Banking and payments

    • Budgeting and wealth management

    • Investments in stocks, gold, or mutual funds

    • Insurance (health, life, vehicle)

    • Digital currencies

Examples include: Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe, Groww, Alipay, Gojek, and WeChat.

    Why Traditional Banks Are Struggling

Banks have long enjoyed the trust of customers, but in today’s fast-paced world, their traditional processes feel outdated.

    • Slow services: Filling forms, submitting documents, and waiting for verification take time.

    • Low adaptability: Banks are slow to adopt new technologies.

    • Poor user experience: Many banking apps are difficult to use, pushing customers to visit branches.

This gap has created a perfect opportunity for Fintech Super Apps.

Why Fintech Super Apps Are So Popular

The rise of super apps can be attributed to a few key advantages:

    • Speed: Transactions are completed in seconds.

    • Convenience: Multiple services in one app.

    • Affordability: Low-cost services compared to banks.

    • User-friendly design: Accessible to people of all ages.

    • Personalization: AI-driven suggestions, offers, and financial planning.

These features make them more attractive to users than traditional banks.

How Super Apps Are Transforming Banking

Super apps go beyond payments—they are reshaping the entire financial ecosystem:

    • Instant loans and credit approvals.

    • Simplified investments in mutual funds, stocks, and gold.

    • Online insurance options (health, life, vehicle).

    • Digital currency investments.

What once required multiple institutions or lengthy processes can now be completed in just a few taps.

    Benefits for Customers

For users, super apps deliver a new level of convenience:

    • Save time—no queues or branch visits.

    • Access banking services 24/7.

    • Maintain easy digital transaction records.

    • Bring financial services to rural and remote areas.

A Threat or an Opportunity for Banks?

Fintech Super Apps are both a challenge and an opportunity for banks.

    • Threat: Banks sticking to traditional models risk losing relevance.

    • Opportunity: By embracing technology, collaborating with fintechs, and expanding online services, banks can thrive in this new ecosystem.

Some banks are already adapting, offering UPI services, mobile apps, and digital-first experiences.

    Security and Compliance Challenges

Despite their benefits, super apps face important risks:

    • Cybersecurity threats: Hacking, fraud, and online scams.

    • Data privacy concerns: Protecting sensitive customer information.

    • Regulatory compliance: Meeting government requirements to ensure transparency and trust.

Security will remain a key factor in sustaining customer confidence.

    Conclusion

Fintech Super Apps have shown that banking is no longer limited to banks. With their speed, accessibility, and affordability, they are shaping the future of financial services.

Traditional banks now face a choice: resist and risk decline, or embrace digital transformation and become part of this new era. Those willing to adapt can unlock vast opportunities in the evolving financial landscape.

  • Inside ‘Alice in Borderland’ Season 3: The Cast On Love, Trauma, and the Future

Inside ‘Alice in Borderland’ Season 3: The Cast On Love, Trauma, and the Future

Netflix is once again plunging audiences into the perilous, surreal, and emotionally charged world of Alice in Borderland with the release of its much-anticipated third season on September 25. The Japanese sci-fi survival series, based on Haro Aso’s best-selling manga, has become a defining global success story for the platform, shattering records and elevating Japanese live-action storytelling to unprecedented international acclaim.

With its combination of high-stakes survival games, complex psychological drama, and philosophical undertones about life, death, and human resilience, Alice in Borderland has captured the imagination of viewers far beyond Japan. As the story pushes into darker, more introspective territory in its third season, the stars of the show—Kento Yamazaki (Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya (Usagi)—reflect on the heavy trauma depicted on screen, the challenges of carrying those emotions as actors, and the global phenomenon the series has become.

A Global Phenomenon Born in Japan

When Netflix first released Alice in Borderland in 2020, it was a gamble. Adaptations of manga into live-action series often divide fans, especially when attempting to balance fidelity to the source material with the demands of global streaming audiences. Yet, from its debut, the series struck a chord.

According to Netflix, the second season, released in December 2022, accumulated over 200 million viewing hours in just four weeks. It also landed in the streamer’s Top 10 charts across more than 90 countries, cementing its place as Netflix’s most-watched Japanese series to date. The appetite for manga-based dramas and the “death game” genre was already well established thanks to titles like Squid Game, but Alice in Borderland carved its own identity—rooted in Japan’s storytelling tradition while tackling universal themes of human survival and morality.

Reflecting on the show’s global reach, Yamazaki admitted:

“I was surprised at the beginning, but I’m elated that global fans have embraced this show. Even from season one, we had this resolve to create something for the global audience. So I’m happy that this passion has carried into season three.”

Tsuchiya added that the show’s themes transcend cultural boundaries:

“In Borderland, you can see reflections of your own society, your school, or even our world of acting. Survival is part of our lives, and in that way, the show is universal. I think that’s why audiences everywhere connected to it.”

Season 3: A Radical Shift in the Story

The upcoming season brings a dramatic twist to the saga of Arisu and Usagi. The logline reveals that the two awaken in a hospital after seemingly escaping the nightmare world of Borderland, only to realize they survived a devastating meteor strike in Shibuya. However, their memories of Borderland and its deadly games are erased.

The peace is short-lived. Usagi is abducted by a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife, compelling Arisu to return to Borderland in search of her. This time, however, the journey introduces new players, dangerous alliances, and the ominous “Joker” stage, a level that pushes the stakes higher than ever.

Director Shinsuke Sato, who has helmed the series since its inception, returns to ensure continuity of tone and vision, while new cast members—including Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Kento Kaku—add fresh dynamics to the narrative.

For Tsuchiya, the shift in storytelling felt both challenging and invigorating:

“When season two wrapped, I thought it was the perfect ending. So when they told me about season three, I was surprised. But this time, Usagi is pregnant, which opens a completely different story. It’s not just about the survival of the leads anymore—it’s about a family, about a child who deserves to return to the normal world.”

    The Emotional Weight of Trauma

One of the series’ defining characteristics is its unflinching confrontation with trauma—whether from the brutal games themselves, the constant proximity of death, or the grief of losing friends along the way. Characters wrestle with despair, depression, and existential dread, themes rarely presented so explicitly in mainstream Japanese dramas.

For the actors, embodying such dark emotional landscapes was not without cost.

    Yamazaki recalled the strain:

“The material takes a toll on you. There were lots of challenges, but overcoming them gave me confidence. To know that the work moves global audiences makes it worth it. Season three feels like vindication that pushing through those dark moments had meaning.”

Tsuchiya agreed, noting the physical toll:

“When you put yourself in a dark place for too long, it can affect your health. On set, what kept us going was laughter. We laughed a lot with the crew, with each other. That balance made the work not just brutal, but filled with love too.”

This duality—where horror and hope coexist—has become one of the series’ hallmarks. Fans are drawn not only to the intensity of the games but also to the resilience and vulnerability of the characters navigating them.

Tokyo Launch: A Celebration of Borderland

Netflix underscored the importance of Alice in Borderland with a lavish Tokyo launch event earlier this month. The event featured a pop-up shop selling themed merchandise, interactive games for fans, and a red-carpet-style celebration that resembled a Hollywood premiere. Although no new footage was screened, the cast and creators took part in live Q&A sessions with fans, influencers, and the press.

Among the guests was AEW wrestling superstar Kenny Omega, who is fluent in Japanese and declared Alice in Borderland his favorite show. His presence highlighted the series’ cross-cultural appeal, bridging audiences from Japan to Western entertainment circles.

Carrying the Series for Five Years

With the show now entering its third season, Yamazaki and Tsuchiya have been attached to the project for over five years. For both actors, the journey has been transformative.

Yamazaki reflected on the pressure of returning:

“I’m a fan of the show myself. So making season three comes with pressure because the global audience loves it. But with such an incredible team, I was filled with joy on set. If there’s a chance for a fourth season or a spin-off, I’d definitely want to be part of it.”

Tsuchiya, however, noted the unexpected nature of continuing the story:

“Season two already felt like closure. But now with the new elements, like Usagi’s pregnancy, the story has shifted to something even more emotional. Exploring a family dimension could open new possibilities for the future.”

    Trauma as Universal Language

Beyond its action sequences and clever game mechanics, Alice in Borderland resonates because of its exploration of trauma and recovery. Audiences worldwide see reflections of their own struggles in the series’ themes—whether it’s loss, resilience, or the search for meaning in chaotic times.

As Tsuchiya pointed out, survival isn’t just a fictional challenge within Borderland. It’s part of everyday life. By weaving such truths into its fantastical setting, the show becomes more than entertainment—it becomes a mirror.

    Yamazaki summarized this connection best:

“Even when the story is set in a parallel world, it feels real. That’s why people everywhere respond. It’s not just a Japanese story; it’s everyone’s story.”

    Looking Toward the Future

With the introduction of the Joker stage, new characters, and the emotional depth of Usagi’s pregnancy arc, season three of Alice in Borderland promises to expand both the scope and the heart of the series. Whether or not Netflix pursues a fourth season or spin-off, the show has already secured its legacy as a cultural milestone for Japanese live-action adaptations.

For Yamazaki and Tsuchiya, the journey has been as transformative off-screen as on-screen. Navigating the heavy emotional terrain of Borderland has tested their endurance, but it has also deepened their artistry and connection with fans around the world.

As Alice in Borderland season three debuts, audiences are reminded that even in worlds built on despair, laughter, love, and resilience can be the strongest survival tools of all.

    • Only school globally to be recognised in the Citation Awards category.

Global Recognition at LOOP Design Awards 2025

New Delhi, 24th September 2025: Harrow International School, Bengaluru, designed by CP Kukreja Architects (CPKA), has been honoured as one of the winners in the Architecture – Educational Buildings category at the LOOP Design Awards 2025. Selected from over 550 entries across 49 countries, the project stood out for its innovative integration of heritage, ecology, and pedagogy.

Organised in Portugal, the LOOP Design Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in architecture, interiors, and product design. This year’s edition showcased outstanding projects from leading practices worldwide, with Harrow International School, Bengaluru, emerging as a global benchmark in educational architecture.

Extending a 450-Year Legacy into India

Marking Harrow’s first campus in India, the school reinterprets the legacy of the 450-year-old institution within Bengaluru’s cultural and ecological context. The masterplan revolves around a preserved natural water channel, which serves as both a landscape feature and a unifying spatial organiser.

Academic, residential, cultural, and athletic facilities are interwoven with courtyards, shaded pathways, and landscaped spines, creating a seamless dialogue between the built and natural environment.

    Voices of Leadership

Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chairman, Governing Body, Harrow International School Bengaluru, said:

“Education is as much about the spaces in which it unfolds as it is about the curriculum it imparts. At Harrow International School Bengaluru, architecture becomes a catalyst for learning. This global recognition affirms our belief that schools must nurture not only academic excellence but also cultural awareness, ecological sensitivity, and responsible citizenship.”

Dikshu C. Kukreja, Managing Principal, CP Kukreja Architects, added:

“Architecture for education must do more than provide infrastructure; it must cultivate imagination, community, and resilience. At Harrow Bengaluru, we sought to craft a milieu where heritage and modernity converse, where sustainability is embedded in every gesture, and where the built environment itself becomes a teacher. This award reaffirms the responsibility of architecture to shape futures, not just buildings.”

    Sustainability at the Core

The design reimagines Harrow’s iconic brick architecture using locally sourced materials while drawing inspiration from Bengaluru’s palaces, gardens, and lakes. A 30-metre-high clock tower serves as both a symbolic anchor and an infrastructural core, reducing the campus’s ecological footprint.

    Key sustainability features include:

    • Bioswales and rainwater management for water sensitivity.

    • North-south building orientation to optimise daylight and ventilation.

    • Shaded arcades and courtyards to reduce heat gain.

    • Integration of high-performance systems with passive climate strategies.

The campus has been awarded a USGBC Platinum rating, reinforcing its status as a model for sustainable educational environments.

Jared Leto Gushes Over His Hero Jeff Bridges in Tron: Ares: He’s the Dude, Man. He’s the Best

Jared Leto is stepping into the Grid with Tron: Ares, but for him, one of the most unforgettable parts of the journey has been sharing the screen with the franchise’s original star, Jeff Bridges. Speaking about their time together on set, Jared couldn’t hold back his admiration for the Oscar-winning actor who first brought Kevin Flynn to life in the 1982 cult classic.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during the promotions, Jared said, “Oh, he’s the dude, man. He’s the best. Everything—he’s everything that you think he’s going to be. He’s kind, he’s fun, he’s funny, he’s generous. Safe to say, some of the most memorable moments from making the movie were the days that we had with Jeff. I wish I had more. I look forward to more in the future. He’s just a good person to be around, a great example of an awesome career. And I think the first time he walked on set, everyone just started applauding.”

For Leto, Bridges isn’t just a co-star but the soul of Tron. “It’s almost impossible to think of a Tron movie without him. Without him, you know? The malfunctioning program who wants to live.”

The actor also revealed that Bridges even gave him a nickname (Air) on set. “As long as he wants it to stay, it stays,” Leto laughed. “But I’ve learned a lot from him over the years. He’s been a great teacher from afar. To work with one of your heroes is just a beautiful thing.”

That hero-worship goes back to Leto’s childhood. “I walked into that movie when I was 12 years old, and it was one of those films that just changed my life. It was the technology, the creativity, the fun, the adventure. And he gave a brilliant performance in that first Tron, and of course the second one was incredible. So we are lucky to have him—and to kind of follow in his footsteps.”

Disney’s TRON: Ares releases in Indian theatres on 10th October 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

  • Dr. Rupali’s Abortion Hospital | India’s Leading Safe & Legal Abortion Centre

Dr. Rupali’s Abortion Hospital | India’s Leading Safe & Legal Abortion Centre

India is a liberal country where abortion is permitted to a married women up to 20 weeks as per The Medical Termination of Pregnancy [MTP] Act 1971. The said Act was amended in the year 2021 & replaced the word “married” from “women” to cover unmarried girls & singles for safe abortion services. But, despite such positive changes, unsafe abortions in the country are the stark reality & approx. eight (8) women die daily due to unsafe abortions in India as per United Nations Population Fund [UNFPA] State of the World Population Report 2022. So, the inspiration & motivation came from this fact alone to save the life of women dying from unsafe abortions. That Dr. Rupali’s Abortion Hospital was founded & established with the sole object to provide safe & legal abortion in India with dignity to all married, unmarried, single, divorcee, widows, abandoned, separated, women living in live in relationship, foetus with congenital abnormalities & minors with absolute privacy & confidentiality. The vision is to make India a safe destination for abortion services & any patient across the globe can have safe MTP with dignity.

You played a key role in the landmark Supreme Court judgment extending abortion rights for unmarried women up to 24 weeks—how do you reflect on the impact of this ruling?

Yes, the Special Leave Petition [SLP] was filed before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India by our legal team led by Advocate Dr. Amit Mishra for the abortion of 24 weeks of an unmarried women  and in the Landmark Judgment i.e X v. THE PRINCIPAL SECRETARY HEALTH & FAMILY WELFARE & ANR GOVT. NCT OF DELHI 2022 [SCC ONLINE SC 905] DATED 29.09.2022  wherein the Hon’ble Supreme court expanded Abortion of unmarried women or singles from 20 weeks to 24 weeks in India & made Choice & Reproductive rights of the women a fundamental right. This judgment has benefitted a large number of unmarried girls to have safe abortion services in India and somewhere it will help in reducing the Maternal Mortality Rate [MMR] as well.

Privacy and confidentiality are central to your hospital’s model. How do you ensure this for minors, rape survivors, and even international patients who travel to you?

That Section 5A Medical Termination of Pregnancy [MTP] Act ensures absolute privacy of all patients looking for safe abortion services before any registered centre and that’s why the law has created deterrence in the form of punishment of one year to any person who violate the said law by disclosing the identity of the patient. It is also found that large number of clinics/centres/hospitals refuse to do ultrasound scan and abortion of minor patients & due to that they have to go for quacks or illegal centres for abortion & endangered their lives. Hence, it becomes the primary duty of Dr. Rupali’s Abortion Hospital to provide safe & legal abortion services to minor, rape survivors girls carrying unwanted pregnancy with proper counselling & absolute privacy with dignity. Similarly, we cater international patients as well through online consultation & also assist in their medical visa.

Changing laws and perceptions around abortion in India is not easy. What personal or professional challenges did you face in this journey?

It is a stark & sad reality of our country that people still believe that abortion is illegal or it cannot be done without husband/partner/parents’ consent. These ignorance/myths need to dispel with awareness and correct facts. It is also true that changing of any codified law is not an easy task and it takes time and lot of efforts alongwith merits & substance in your case. In the landmark judgment X v. The Principal Secretary, the Hon’ble Delhi High Court refused to permit the petitioner for abortion of 23 weeks on the ground of being unmarried/single. But, the said order was challenged before the Hon’ble Supreme Court immediately after mentioning before the Chief Justice of India for listing the matter & argued on the law point that excluding unmarried women/singles from the beneficial provision of Rule 2B MTP Rules where minors, divorcee, widows, rape victims, physically disable or mentally challenged women are allowed for abortion will amount to discrimination & inequality & violation of Article 14, 19 & 21 of the Constitution of India. Hence, the law finally got changed in our country on 29.09.2022.
