GAIL (India) Limited Unveils G-Tex in Mumbai, Marking a Major Step in Expanding Its Petrochemical Portfolio

Mangalore, 27 February, 2026: Strengthening its commitment to India’s growing petrochemical and textile ecosystem, GAIL (India) Limited launched G-Tex, its new brand for Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), on February 20, 2026, in Mumbai at an exclusive gathering of key stakeholders from across the polyester value chain, with the launch led by GAIL’s Director (Marketing), Shri Sanjay Kumar, marking a significant step in the expansion of the company’s petrochemical portfolio.

PTA is the backbone of polyester production, powering fibers, yarns, fabrics, and PET applications. As India enters a high-growth phase in polyester and textiles, stable domestic PTA capacity becomes increasingly strategic for the industry.

G-Tex will be produced by GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL, at its 1.25 MMTPA world-class PTA facility in Mangalore SEZ. Commercial production is set to commence from April 2026.

G-Tex is designed to deliver high process stability, consistent batch quality, reliable long-term supply, reduced import dependence, and strengthened value chain resilience. Backed by GAIL’s decades-long legacy of reliability in polymers and energy infrastructure, G-Tex represents more than a product launch; it is a long-term commitment to India’s textile manufacturers, polyester producers, and downstream industries.

As national initiatives such as PM MITRA and Make in India accelerate textile capacity, G-Tex stands ready to support India’s ambition of becoming a global textile powerhouse.

Bhubaneswar, January, 2026: GAIL India Limited, a state-owned energy major, has expanded access to clean fuel in Bhubaneswar by commissioning Domestic Piped Natural Gas (DPNG) connections at two major residential societies under the National PNG Drive 2.0. The initiative strengthens the ongoing push toward a cleaner, safer, and more efficient gas-based economy in the city.
