Kailash Hospitals Prepares for Seasonal Surge in Respiratory and Cardiac Cases as Delhi-NCR Air Quality Reaches ‘Poor’ Category

The hospital network is on high alert as particulate pollution rises, with the AQI ranging from 115 to 211 ahead of Diwali festivities.

New Delhi, 16th October 2025: As Delhi-NCR’s air quality has reached the “Poor” category ahead of Diwali, Kailash Hospitals has ramped up its readiness to manage a potential surge in respiratory and cardiac emergencies. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi-NCR’s Air Quality Index (AQI) ranged from 115 on October 8 to 189 on October 13, before rising further to 211 on October 14 and 213 on October 15, entering the “Poor” category (which begins at 201). This upward trend in pollution is influenced by seasonal and local factors, including traffic emissions, and meteorological conditions such as lower wind speeds and temperatures. In the coming days, due to firecrackers bursting on Diwali, pollution is further expected to increase.

Experts at Kailash Hospitals caution that even moderate levels of air pollution can exacerbate conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and heart disease, particularly among vulnerable populations.

Dr. Sudhir Kr. Gupta, Sr. Consultant (Chest Physician & Bronchoscopist), Kailash Hospital, Noida said, “Even at moderate levels, air pollution places a measurable strain on the lungs and cardiovascular system. Patients with asthma, COPD, and heart disease often experience worsening symptoms even with short-term exposure. Fine particulate matter can also subtly affect the general population by triggering inflammation, reducing lung function, and increasing the risk of asthma, COPD and bronchitis attacks. Our focus is not only on treatment but also on proactive guidance, advising vulnerable individuals, preparing our facilities, and emphasizing preventive measures to mitigate the health impact of this seasonal rise in pollution.”

In response to rising pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) activated Stage-I restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR as of October 14, 2025. Alongside these measures, Kailash Hospitals has mobilized additional medical staff and resources across its facilities in Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi to manage the anticipated surge in patients.

The hospital network is also proactively engaging with the community to raise awareness about the health risks associated with poor air quality and to promote preventive measures. Residents are advised to monitor air quality updates and limit outdoor activities during periods of high pollution. Anyone experiencing symptoms such as persistent cough, shortness of breath, or chest discomfort should seek medical attention promptly and follow prescribed medication regimens.

  • Seerat Kapoor: “The True Essence of Diwali is Carrying That Light Within You”

Seerat Kapoor: “The True Essence of Diwali is Carrying That Light Within You”

“The True Spirit of Diwali Lies in the Light Within You and Sharing It With One Another,” Says Seerat Kapoor

For actress Seerat Kapoor, Diwali has always been more than just a festival of lights — it’s a celebration of love, gratitude, and inner peace. Though her career often takes her far from home, she continues to embrace the warmth and meaning of the festival wherever she is.

“There have been many times when work has kept me away from home during Diwali,” Seerat shares. “But I’ve learned to recreate that spirit wherever I am. Even on set, I make it a point to light diyas, share sweets with the crew, and connect with my family virtually for a small puja. The real essence of Diwali is carrying that light within you and sharing it with the people around you.”

Recalling Her Childhood: “In All That Laughter and Joy, There’s Always a Small Voyage of Missing My Father”

Reminiscing about her childhood celebrations, Seerat’s face lights up with nostalgia.

“As a child, Diwali was pure magic,” she recalls fondly. “I remember helping my mother decorate the house with diyas and rangoli, waiting excitedly to wear new clothes, and running around with my cousins. The aroma of sweets filled every corner and laughter echoed through the house.”

Yet amid the joy, there’s a tender ache that remains.

“In all that laughter and joy, there is always a small voyage of missing my father. His absence is deeply felt, especially during moments like these. But I believe he’s always with us in spirit, blessing us and sharing our joy from wherever he is. Those memories never fade — they only settle deeper into the heart.”

Keeping Traditions Alive, Even Miles Away From Home

Over the years, Seerat’s busy shooting schedules have often meant celebrating Diwali away from her family. But she’s found her own ways to keep the traditions alive.

“Even when I’m away, I celebrate by lighting diyas, offering prayers, and sharing sweets with my film crew. There’s something incredibly grounding about those simple acts — they connect you to home and to the deeper meaning of the festival.”

Diwali as a Moment of Reflection and Renewal

For Seerat, Diwali isn’t just about festivities — it’s also a time for introspection.

“It’s a time to cleanse, to start anew, and to fill your heart with positivity,” she says. “The true spirit of Diwali lies in that light we share with one another. Whether I’m with my family or my film family, I try to keep that essence alive — because light radiates from within.”

A Celebration Beyond Lights and Sweets

As Seerat prepares to celebrate this year’s Diwali surrounded by loved ones, her reflections serve as a gentle reminder that the festival’s true glow comes from togetherness, remembrance, and gratitude.

Her words beautifully capture what Diwali stands for — not just the triumph of light over darkness, but the warmth of love that keeps that light alive in our hearts.

    On the Work Front

Seerat Kapoor is gearing up for her much-awaited Pan-Indian film Jatasya Maranam Dhruvam, set to release by the end of this year.

  • AkosMD set to unveil Akos360 to Help Firms Predict Employee Illness

AkosMD set to unveil Akos360 to Help Firms Predict Employee Illness

All India— AkosMD, a healthtech startup firm focused on employee well-being, has chalked out a plan to launch its data platform, ‘Akos360’, designed to help companies predict and manage workforce health risks before illness strikes.

In India, most corporate health programmes remain reactive, addressing sickness after it occurs through insurance and treatment benefits. Rising cases of stress, diabetes, and heart conditions have affected productivity across sectors. Experts note a growing need for tools that help companies shift from treating illness to maintaining ongoing health.

“The real cost for any organisation is not treatment, it is the hidden loss caused by poor health and absence,” said Amit Kumar, Group CEO, AkosMD India. “With Akos360, we offer business leaders a single measure of workforce well-being and future risk, helping them plan better and promote consistent care.”

Akos360 analyses employee health records, claims, and related data to identify risk patterns and predict potential health issues. The platform generates individual health risk scores and early warnings for conditions such as heart disease and fatigue, enabling firms to act before problems escalate.

The platform provides health plans, reminders for regular checks, and links to existing healthcare services. AkosMD said the system enables firms to direct timely support, improving attendance and reducing long-term costs.

“With Akos360, we are helping firms move from reaction to preparation,” said Kumar, adding that the idea is to make health management a part of everyday work rather than a response to illness.

With this launch, AkosMD is moving towards a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) model, combining data analysis and predictive tools for corporate use. The company said this approach aligns with a wider industry trend of using technology to support preventive healthcare and workforce performance.

  • Muthoot Group MD Faces ED PMLA Probe; RBI Penalizes Muthoot FinCorp Separately

Muthoot Group MD Faces ED PMLA Probe; RBI Penalizes Muthoot FinCorp Separately

Kochi, October 11: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday questioned Muthoot Group Managing Director George Alexander Muthoot in connection with an ongoing probe into alleged money laundering and investor fraud. The questioning took place at the agency’s Kochi office, according to sources cited by PTI.

PMLA Probe Based on Multiple FIRs

The ED’s Kochi zonal unit has launched an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), based on several First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by the Kerala Police.

These FIRs stem from allegations that certain branch managers of Muthoot Finance misrepresented investment schemes to customers, leading to significant financial losses for investors.

According to complaints, investors were enticed into placing funds in fixed deposits (FDs) and non-convertible debentures (NCDs) with promises of 8–12% returns. The accused managers allegedly diverted these funds to Srei Equipment Finance Limited, falsely claiming it was a sister concern of the Muthoot Group.

This alleged misrepresentation resulted in non-repayment of investments on maturity, with several investors claiming they were cheated out of their funds.

ED Records Statement of George Alexander Muthoot

Sources confirmed that the ED summoned George Alexander Muthoot to record his statement in the case. The agency is reportedly examining the flow of funds and the level of managerial oversight involved in the questioned transactions.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the ED expected to scrutinize whether systemic lapses or individual misconduct contributed to the alleged fraud.

RBI Imposes Penalty on Muthoot FinCorp

In a separate regulatory action, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a monetary penalty of ₹2.7 lakh on Muthoot FinCorp on September 26, 2024, for non-compliance with Internal Ombudsman norms.

According to the RBI, the penalty followed a statutory inspection conducted as of March 31, 2024, which revealed that the company failed to establish an automated system to escalate customer complaints—either partially or wholly rejected by its grievance mechanism—to the Internal Ombudsman.

The central bank clarified that the penalty was based on regulatory deficiencies and did not impact the validity of any transaction or agreement between Muthoot FinCorp and its customers.
