Silver Economy in India: Senior Care Set to Attract Big Investment

    • As 19,500 people turn 60 each day, ASLI Ageing Fest 2025 urges reforms, investment, and innovation in senior care

Mumbai, September 18, 2025: The 6th edition of the ASLI Ageing Fest commenced today at The LaLit, Mumbai, bringing together leaders, innovators, and policymakers to deliberate on the critical enablers shaping the future of ageing in India—Investments, Technology, Insurance, and Community. With the theme “347 Million Reasons to Rethink Capital Allocation,” the Fest highlighted the urgency of building sustainable and impactful solutions for India’s rapidly growing senior population.

The inaugural session opened with a welcome Address by Mr. Rajit Mehta, Chairman, ASLI and MD & CEO, Antara Senior Care, who underlined the need to generate conversations around the sector, considering the magnitude of challenges—larger than any other country—with 19,500 people turning 60 every day. “Hence, we need to create relevant infrastructure, put in place holistic care solutions, redefine the contours of current financial products, and also reinvent our policies, frameworks, and tax incentives. Alongside, we must also build a larger pool of caregivers,” Mr. Mehta observed.

Emphasising that senior care was shifting from the margins to the mainstream, Dr. Rana Mehta – Partner & Leader Healthcare, PwC India, stated: “Investors have a great chance of shaping this journey by bringing in long-term, innovation capital.” He further stressed that “collaboration between investors, end approvers, and policymakers will be the true unlock for this sector.”

Chaired by Dr. Rana Mehta, the tone for the day was set by the panel discussion “Fuelling the Future: Investments and Impact,” which examined the challenges and opportunities for India as it transitions from a “silver to evergreen longevity economy.”

Among the panellists, Mr. Vikash Rathi – Principal, Healthcare Investments, Premji Invest, urged companies in the senior care sector to build “business models that are relevant to a larger audience in India to make themselves investible. Problems of this magnitude will require ‘Make in India’ solutions to ensure senior care services are scalable and suitable for our country.”

Adding to this, Mr. Chintan Kothari – Partner, Eight Roads Ventures, listed key imperatives for the Indian senior care sector to reach its inflection point. “Insurance will be critical, and it will require regulatory intervention. Fiscal incentives in the form of land subsidies, tax reliefs on income, adaptive deductibles, etc., are other essential components that can move this sector forward.”

Mr. Karthik Narayanswamy – Partner and Head of India, Novo Holdings, noted: “Innovation will be the key to making the economics work for companies in this sector. Investors will take a leap of faith if businesses have the right model.”

Mr. Ramanan Venkateswaran – Chief Investment Strategist, Singularity AMC, remarked: “While Indian players in the senior care business will draw largely from the global playbook, the price points at which they operate will be the defining factor in making services accessible and affordable for a wider population. The focus should be on creating wellness rather than offering just healthcare, by building vibrant, healthy environments for senior citizens.”

An another panel “Global Best Practices: Revolutionizing Senior Care,” brought together international perspectives on models that could help India build a future-ready senior care ecosystem. Moderated by Ankur Gupta, Co-Founder, ASLI and JMD, Ashiana Housing, the session drew insights from Australia and Japan—two of the world’s most advanced ageing societies.

Barry Ashcroft, Co-founder, Director & COO, Apollo Care Australia, highlighted that the Australian government funds nearly 75% of senior care costs, though accommodation is excluded. “The government does not allow profit-making from elderly care, and our revenue comes from providing accommodation,” he explained, underlining how regulation and public funding shape the sector there.

From Japan, Mitsuru Sakoda, General Manager & Head of Global Business Division, Sompo Care Inc., noted that with almost 30% of its citizens above 60, Japan is now the most aged country in the world. “Hence, societal frameworks and senior care support are becoming increasingly critical to sustain such a large elderly population. Indian models will also need to be built around the country’s culture and societal needs, just as we have done in Japan,” he said.

With the rise in elderly population and increasing interest around the segment by developers, the senior living industry is poised to reach a market size of $8 billion by 2030 from the current $1.8 to $2 billion, according to a recent report by Association of Senior Living in India (ASLI) and JLL.

The report has stated that this rise will be driven by an increase in India’s senior population from an estimated 163 million in 2025 to 191.5 million projected for 2030, coupled with a relatively lower market penetration, leaving scope for higher growth potential.

    About ASLI

Association of Senior Living India (ASLI) was formed, as an initiative by Mr Mansoor Dalal, CMD of Oasis Senior Living, an assiduous proponent and a consultant to the Senior Living industry for the last 14 years, with the support of Mr. Ankur Gupta, Jt. • Pee Safe Launches ‘Hygiene Ki Aadat Banao’ Campaign to Change India’s Hygiene Habits

Pee Safe Launches ‘Hygiene Ki Aadat Banao’ Campaign to Change India’s Hygiene Habits

Pee Safe, India’s leading hygiene and wellness brand, has launched its latest Digital Video Campaign (DVC)“Hygiene Ki Aadat Banao, Pee Safe Ke Saath.”

The campaign highlights a critical hygiene gap: while people are cautious about using public or shared toilets, they often overlook the hidden dangers in their own homes. A toilet seat that appears clean may still harbor invisible germs and bacteria, making sanitization essential every time.

Driving a Cultural Shift in Toilet Hygiene

With this initiative, Pee Safe is encouraging individuals to adopt toilet seat sanitization as a daily habit—not only in public places but also within households.

The campaign reinforces a simple yet powerful message:

Safety starts only after spraying a toilet seat sanitizer.

By normalizing this practice, Pee Safe aims to spark a cultural shift in hygiene behavior, ensuring protection for individuals and families, even when toilets appear visibly clean.

    Founder’s Perspective

Commenting on the campaign, Vikas Bagaria, Founder of Pee Safe, said:

“Most people assume that if a toilet looks clean, it is safe to use. But germs are invisible to the naked eye. With India’s female workforce participation at 40.3% in 2023–24, women are increasingly balancing roles in diverse environments. This video emphasizes why sanitizing toilet seats must become a healthy household habit—not only in public places but also in workplaces and homes.”

    Inclusivity at the Core

The awareness campaign is designed for everyone—men, women, and children alike. Pee Safe envisions toilet seat sanitization becoming a universal, everyday practice, much like brushing teeth or washing hands.

This aligns with the brand’s mission of making hygiene:

    • Simple

    • Accessible

    • Non-negotiable

By driving this shift, Pee Safe is working towards building a healthier India, one toilet at a time.

    About Pee Safe

Founded in 2013, Pee Safe has emerged as a pioneer in personal and intimate hygiene. The brand’s diverse product portfolio includes:

    • Toilet Seat Sanitizers

    • Menstrual Cups & Sanitary Pads

    • Intimate Washes

    • And more innovative hygiene solutions

With a commitment to empowering people through safe, convenient, and effective hygiene practices, Pee Safe continues to make healthier habits accessible to all.

  • Student Hostels and Accommodation in Noida: A Home Away from Home for University Students

Student Hostels and Accommodation in Noida: A Home Away from Home for University Students

Noida and Greater Noida have rapidly become education hotspots, with some of India’s best educational institutions like Sharda University, Galgotias University, Amity University, Gautam Buddha University, and many others. With thousands of students coming every year for higher education purposes, the need for secure and trusted hostel and PG accommodations in Knowledge Park, Greater Noida, and along the Yamuna Expressway has increased exponentially.

For most students, moving away from home for college is a bittersweet experience. Not only do they search for hostel/PG accommodation close to the university, but also for comfort, security, and community. That is where organized student accommodations in Noida and Greater Noida have transformed hostel living.

Why Students Prefer Hostels in Noida and Greater Noida

Modern student hostels, located in Knowledge Park and Greater Noida, are much more than just a room and a bed, unlike regular PGs. They have been designed to function as whole ecosystems and think about the whole student wellbeing. Facilities usually include hygienic food available, transport in and out of university (e.g., for Sharda and Galgotias), 24-hour security, and supporting student environments where they can focus on their studies without having to worry about basic needs.

student hostels Noida, student accommodation Greater Noida, hostels near Sharda University, PGs near Galgotias University, student housing Noida, Knowledge Park hostels

    Location Advantage for University Students

Many hostels and student stays near Sharda University and Galgotias University are located in and around Knowledge Park and along the Yamuna Expressway, which helps in daily travels. Accessible colleges, metro stations, and shopping complexes provide students with a good balance of studies and convenience. Parents are happy as well, knowing that their children are living in safe and accessible locations in Gautam Budh Nagar.

Building a Community, Not Just a Stay

One of the enormous benefits of student accommodations in Greater Noida is the community. The opportunity for students to come together for festivals and for birthdays, study groups, and hostel-based activities, and form a network of support is what we refer to as the formation of a second family. A community helps with homesickness and lets students develop relationships and networks that may last a lifetime.

The Growing Demand for Student Accommodation

With the number of universities, including private universities, growing in Noida and Greater Noida, the demand for organized and quality hostels, dormitories, and PGs has been increasing, including in the areas closest to Knowledge Park and the Yamuna Expressway. Students are no longer just looking for bed space; students have higher expectations, given that they now want hygienic food, dependable, compulsory transportation, and a safe living space, and will prefer places that offer this in a 9 or 12-month lease. This transition is establishing student accommodation as a vital component of the education ecosystem in Gautam Budh Nagar.

  • Miss World Manushi Chhillar Swaps Crown for Care with SOMA Wellness Launch

Miss World Manushi Chhillar Swaps Crown for Care with SOMA Wellness Launch

Miss World 2017 and rising Bollywood actor Manushi Chhillar has taken a bold new step beyond the glamour world. Known for her grace and intelligence on the international stage, she has now announced her entry into the healthcare industry with the launch of SOMA Wellness, a pioneering regenerative medicine and wellness center in Mumbai.

This unique initiative has been co-founded with her father, Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, a highly respected physician with decades of experience. Dr. Chhillar serves as the clinic’s Medical Director, bringing medical expertise and research-driven practice to the forefront of the venture.

    A Strong Medical Foundation

While Manushi became a household name after winning Miss World, her roots have always been deeply tied to medicine. Before stepping into the limelight, she was pursuing medical studies and training to become a doctor. This background, along with her passion for holistic health, shaped her vision for SOMA Wellness.

She aims to bridge the gap between global medical advancements and India’s healthcare needs by introducing evidence-based regenerative medicine treatments. These treatments, until now, were accessible only at leading centers in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.

    The Vision Behind SOMA Wellness

SOMA Wellness is built on the belief that healthcare should not just manage symptoms but address the root cause of conditions. The center focuses on personalized, science-backed wellness programs designed to restore vitality and improve long-term health outcomes.

    Key areas of focus include:

    • Reversing and managing chronic conditions

    • Optimizing hormonal balance

    • Addressing age-related challenges and weight management

    • Enhancing overall vitality and wellness

Every client at SOMA undergoes a detailed evaluation process. This includes blood profile assessments, genetic mapping, intolerance testing, and a study of lifestyle and environmental influences. Based on these insights, the clinic designs tailored treatment protocols that combine nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, and advanced therapeutic interventions.

    Manushi Chhillar on SOMA’s Mission

Sharing her passion for the initiative, Manushi expressed:

“SOMA has been a passion project for me. I have grown up with the values of helping people live healthier lives through medical science, inspired by my father’s decades of practice. India deserves world-class, evidence-based wellness care that looks at the whole person—mind, body, and history. At SOMA, we are pioneering that shift with medical science-backed protocols designed for each individual. As a medical student myself, I plan to continue contributing meaningfully to SOMA’s journey.”

Her words reflect her commitment to not only champion the cause as an entrepreneur but also actively contribute as a medical professional in training.

    Bringing Global Standards Home

SOMA Wellness is founded on over 30 years of research and clinical practice in preventive and regenerative medicine. Within a short time, the center has already begun attracting patients who would otherwise travel abroad for specialized therapies. Interestingly, it has also drawn international clients who recognize the opportunity to receive world-class treatments in India at a more accessible cost.

By merging cutting-edge medical science with holistic care, SOMA Wellness stands out as a first-of-its-kind destination in India’s wellness landscape. It represents a transformative step toward integrating regenerative medicine into mainstream Indian healthcare.

A New Chapter in Manushi’s Journey

From wearing the Miss World crown to now donning the mantle of a healthcare entrepreneur, Manushi Chhillar embodies versatility and vision. Her transition is not merely symbolic but deeply rooted in her belief that healthcare should be proactive, personalized, and globally benchmarked.

With SOMA Wellness, she is not just building a clinic but contributing to a broader movement—one that redefines how India approaches preventive and regenerative medicine. This initiative highlights her evolution from a global pageantry icon to a changemaker in healthcare, setting the stage for a lasting impact on people’s lives.
